Covid-19 Update

We are still shipping as normal, but in light of the spread of COVID-19 we’re taking all necessary precautions to keep our customers and colleagues safe.

Social distancing is in force in our fulfilment centre. All staff wear gloves and other hygiene equipment and wash their hands hourly.

Due to COVID precautions and anticipated delays with our delivery partners, we are experiencing longer ship times. Currently, plant orders will ship within 8-10 business days after being placed. Once your IS shipped it may take an additional 3–5 days to arrive at your door.

What are the sizes of your pots?

We have 3 sizes of pots. The small pot (for our small plants) has a diameter of 5-6 inches and is 5 inches tall. The medium pot (for our medium plants) has a diameter of 7-8 inches and is 7 inches tall. The large pot (for our large and sometimes extra-large plants) has a diameter of 10-12 inches and is 10.25 inches tall.

Will my houseplant look like what's in the picture?

All Modern Garden plants are fully grown as in the picture, however, each plant is unique so there will be variations in color, shape, etc. Your plant will arrive healthy and undamaged, pre-potted in one of our Modern planters of your choosing.


Why does my plant look different then the picture online?

All live plants and pottery will have variations in color, texture, finish, and size. While we make every effort to display our pots and plants as accurate as possible, there may be subtle differences from what is displayed online.

Why doesn't my pot have a drainage hole?

Our lines of ORION,NOVA, and SKYLAR planters come without drainage holes. If the potted plant you select does not have a drainage hole, rest assured knowing our team has taken extra precautions to make sure that your plant is potted properly with a generous layer of lava rocks before the potting mix, to aid in proper water management and help your plant thrive. Lava rocks allow excess water to pool at the bottom of the planter but away from your plant’s roots, thus reducing the risk of root rot.

Tip: when watering your plant, add no more than 1/3 of the planter’s volume in water, to avoid overwatering. Best practice is to feel the potting mix a few inches down first, and only water if the mix is dry.

Whats the status of my order

To check on the status of an order, simply go to our Track My Order Page and insert your order number. You are always welcome to reach out via support@moderngarden.co with any questions.

What if I need to edit my order?

Please contact us at support@moderngarden.co as soon as possible if you would like to change or cancel your order. We'll do our best to process your request & see if its possible to do so. There's a human behind each response! Please allow up to 2-3 business days for us to get back to you. 

What if I need to cancel my order?

We begin work on each order soon after it is placed. To cancel an order, you must email us within 2 hours of your order being placed and we will process a refund at our discretion. After 2 hours, it is not possible to cancel your order.

When will my plants arrive?

We take great care in growing, packaging, and shipping your new plants so they’re ready to thrive in your home. This includes keeping them safe while they travel to your doorstep.

Please Note: Due to previous delays and severe winter weather across the country, our ship times are longer than usual. Plant orders will ship within 12-14 business days after purchase.

Where do you deliver plants to?

We currently ship our indoor plants, pots and accessories to all US states expect Alaska and Hawaii!

The delivery rate ranges depending on weight and quantity.

Do I need to be present for my plant delivery?

Preferably yes, someone must be available to receive the delivery. (This can be via a shipping room in a large office building or with a concierge.) If you dont think anyone will be there, you can give us permission to leave the delivery in a specified safe and accessible area in the checkout notes.

What if my plant or pot arrived damaged?

We guarantee the safe and healthy arrival of all our plants. In the rare occasion that your plant and/or pot was damaged during shipping, we will happily send you a replacement free of charge.

Just send us your order number and a photo of your damaged plant via our chat or email us directly atsupport@moderngarden.co so we can determine the condition of your order and send a replacement when necessary.

If the plant you ordered is no longer in season, you will be advised to pick another plant of the same size for your replacement.

Can I return or exchange my plant/pot after I receive it?

We currently only offer returns or exchanges on our care products and accessories. 

We handle returns and replacements on a case-by-case basis with the ultimate objective of making our customers happy. If you're not happy with your recent purchase, please email us at Support@moderngarden.co . Note that depending on the day, it may take up to 24 hours to receive a response.

How long will my preorder item(s) take to ship?

Items on pre-order will ship on or before the estimated shipping date listed in your confirmation email receipt. Orders containing multiple items will be shipped all together in an effort to be mindful of our carbon footprint.

How do automatic payments work?

Payments are collected every other week from the debit or credit card you provide at the time of purchase. All scheduled payments are communicated to you by email and you can review your purchases by logging in at https://app.klarna.com/login.

Is there a fee to use 4 interest-free installments?

There are no upfront fees when you follow the payment schedule. If you fail to make a payment on time late fees may apply. Please review the product terms for applicable fees.

Will this affect my credit score?

When you choose Pay later in 30 days or 4 interest-free installments, Klarna may perform a soft credit check. This type of check will not impact your credit score or show up as a hard inquiry on your credit report.
