PLANT BIO

A member of the Mulberry and Fig family, the Fiddle Leaf Fig is native to west Africa, thriving in lowland tropical rainforest regions. Its green, fiddle-shaped leaves earned this plant its name, and while the tree can grow to over 40 feet tall in the wild, it usually stops at around 6 feet when cultivated indoors.

Interestingly, the Fiddle Leaf Fig actually begins life as an epiphyte, which means that it starts off by growing in the branches of another tree. Its roots slowly make their way to the ground, where they then wrap around and strangle the host tree, taking over that precious spot in the rainforest.

In an indoor environment, this is a tree that doesn’t like change, meaning that consistency is a must. Replicating the warmth and humidity of the plant’s native habitat will help the tree to thrive, giving you a statement-making houseplant for years to come.
